Meet the Team Prior to training Ron Harris was a succesful jockey on the flat and more so over fences, but after sustaining an injury he was forced to retire from the saddle. Ron always had a passion for horses and racing and after creating a successful business in the meat trade, he returned back to the sport he loved so much and took out a training licence in 2004 and built the state of art training facility at Ridge House. Since then Ron is stamping himself firmly amongst the training ranks, finishing 1st in the Southwell 2008/2009 All Weather Trainers Championship. Lorraine Brooke joined the team April 2009. "Lol" as she is known to all, is a valuable member of the team in looking after the horses, to and from, and at the races. At the races the team frequently return home with the best turned out prize, which is an award that is regulalry presented to the lad or lass of the best turned out horse in the race. Shane P Ryan joined the team as an apprentice jockey in June 2009. Shane is hands on in the yard and rides out regularly. So far he has riden 7 winners from 74 runners, collecting a total prize money of over £25,000.
Jake Payne joined the team as an apprentice jockey in September 2009, like Shane, Jake is involved in all aspects of the yard. In total he has won 4 races out of 61 runs collecting a total prize money of £15,000.
Ian Roberts is the newest member of the team. Joining us in February 2010, Ian brings with him a vast amount of experience having previously worked for Amanda Perrett, Richard Hannon and others. |
